Wyoming Real Estate Salesperson Exam Exam Guide

The exam is built from two separate content outlines: a national outline (effective April 1, 2025) and a Wyoming state-specific outline (effective January 1, 2021). The national portion tests general real estate knowledge, including property descriptions and property use, which alone accounts for 11 scored items. The state portion focuses on Wyoming-specific law and practice, broken out by item range:

• Licensing — 7-9 items for salesperson candidates
• The real estate licensing agency's powers — 2-5 items
• Licensee requirements and activities — 15-17 items
• Additional topics — 11-13 items

Wyoming statute further specifies that the exam covers business ethics, composition, arithmetic, elementary land economics and appraisal, and state law on deeds, mortgages, contracts, and agency.

Each portion of the exam is priced separately: $80 per portion at a Pearson VUE test center, or $90 per portion through OnVUE remote proctoring. Beyond the exam fee, candidates should budget for a $39 fingerprint-processing fee and a $300 license fee due after passing, per the official Pearson VUE candidate handbook.

The exam is administered as two separately timed, separately scored portions. The national portion runs 2.5 hours and includes 80 scored items plus 5 unscored pretest items. The Wyoming state portion runs 1.5 hours and includes 40 scored items for salesperson candidates plus 5-10 unscored pretest items. Each portion carries its own passing standard: a scaled score of 75 on a 0-100 scale. Candidates who fail one portion must wait 24 hours before retaking it, and must pass the failed portion within 6 months of first passing the other one.
