North Dakota Real Estate Salesperson Exam Exam Guide

The exam is split into a national portion and a state-specific portion, each scored on its own. The national portion draws from eleven core content areas, with the heaviest weights on Contracts (19%) and Agency (13%), followed by Property Ownership (10%) and Financing (10%). The examination fee is $134, and that fee is the same whether a candidate is testing on one portion or both in the same sitting. This is separate from licensing application costs paid to NDREC, which include a $150 application fee, a $40 fingerprinting analysis fee, and a $20 one-time payment to the commission's Real Estate Education, Research and Recovery Fund. Note: the $13 credit-history fee shown in NDREC's fee schedule can differ slightly from what's baked into the published application totals ($161.25 for resident/nonresident applicants, $181.25 for reciprocal applicants), so candidates should confirm the exact current total with NDREC directly before paying.

The salesperson exam has two separately timed portions: a national portion of 100 questions in 150 minutes, requiring a score of at least 70 points to pass, and a state portion of 40 questions in 90 minutes, requiring at least 30 points to pass. A small number of unscored experimental questions (5 to 10) may also appear without warning. Residents must generally pass both portions, while nonresident, nonreciprocal applicants take only the state portion.
