To qualify for the PMP, the Project Management Institute (PMI) requires at least 35 hours of project management training or education, plus experience leading projects that depends on your education: a minimum of 60 months (5 years) with a high school diploma or equivalent, 48 months (4 years) with an associate's degree or equivalent, 36 months (3 years) with a bachelor's degree or higher, or 24 months (2 years) with a bachelor's or postgraduate degree from a program accredited by PMI's Global Accreditation Center (GAC). That leading-projects experience must have been accrued within the last 10 years. An active CAPM certification earns a 35-training-hour credit, and from December 1, 2026, PMI accepts live instructor-led training only from its Authorized Training Partners, China Registered Education Providers, GAC-accredited programs and accredited higher-education institutions.
