West Virginia Real Estate Salesperson Exam Exam Guide

Pearson VUE charges $59 per exam part, so sitting for both the national and state portions costs $59 each. Candidates also pay a separate $25 application fee to the West Virginia Real Estate Commission before they're approved to schedule the exam.

The exam is divided into two parts: a national/general portion and a state-specific law portion, each timed and scored separately. Both must be passed to qualify for a salesperson license.

The exam is administered by Pearson VUE, the testing vendor used by the West Virginia Real Estate Commission. After your application is approved, Pearson VUE emails you to schedule an exam date.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and complete a 90-hour prelicense course before applying. A national criminal history background check is also required and stays valid for only 90 days.

Candidates have 90 days or two attempts, whichever comes first, before they must resubmit an application to sit for the exam again. Plan retakes with that window in mind so you don't have to restart the application process.

You have 90 days after passing to apply for your license, which carries a $75 application fee for an initial salesperson license. Miss that window and you may need to retest before applying.
