Missouri Real Estate Salesperson Exam Exam Guide

The exam is split into a national portion and a Missouri state-law portion, each covering different content domains. The national portion tests general real estate practice, including domains such as Agency (weighted 13% for the salesperson exam) and Contracts (weighted 19%). The state portion focuses on Missouri-specific rules and law, broken out by item counts across these areas:

The examination fee is $52, and that fee applies whether a candidate is taking one exam portion or both. Retaking a failed portion costs the same $52. Once licensed, the salesperson license application carries a $100 fee, and license renewal is $65 — candidates should confirm current amounts against the Missouri Real Estate Commission's official fee schedule, since fee schedules can be revised.

The exam has two separately timed and scored portions. The national portion consists of 100 items with a 150-minute time limit and requires a 70% passing score. The state-law portion consists of 40 items with a 120-minute time limit and requires a 75% passing score. A small number of additional unscored experimental questions, typically 5 to 10, may also be mixed into the exam. Before testing, candidates must complete a 48-hour pre-exam salesperson course from an accredited Missouri real estate school.
