Salesforce Administrator Pass Rate 2026: There Isn't One

There is no official Salesforce Administrator pass rate. Salesforce publishes an unusually detailed exam guide for this credential — question count, time limit, registration fee, retake fee, and a section-by-section outline with exact percentage weightings — but it does not publish the share of candidates who pass. The only threshold Salesforce commits to is the one you have to clear: 68% on the English version of the exam, or 65% on the Japanese version. Every "Salesforce Admin pass rate" number in your search results was produced by someone other than Salesforce, and those numbers do not agree with one another.

How the Salesforce Administrator exam is actually scored

The scoring model is the reason a pass rate is missing, so it is worth understanding first. According to the official Salesforce Certified Platform Administrator exam guide — the current guide for the credential most people simply call the Salesforce Admin cert — the exam is built like this:

• 60 scored multiple-choice questions, plus up to five unscored questions
• 105 minutes to complete it
• Passing score: 68% (English) or 65% (Japanese)
• Registration: US$200, or JPY ¥30,000, plus applicable taxes
• Retake: US$100, or JPY ¥15,000, plus applicable taxes
• No prerequisites
• Proctored onsite at a testing center or in an online environment
• No hard-copy or online materials may be referenced during the exam

That 68% is a fixed percentage of the scored items, not a scaled or curved score. Do the arithmetic and the bar becomes uncomfortably concrete: 68% of 60 scored questions is 40.8, so you need 41 correct answers. Forty correct puts you at 66.7% — a fail. The entire outcome turns on a single question.

The up-to-five unscored questions are pretest items Salesforce uses to trial future content. They do not count toward your result, and you cannot tell which ones they are, so you will spend real minutes on questions that cannot help you. Budget accordingly rather than resenting them.

This fixed cut score also explains the missing statistic. On a curved or equated exam, the passing line moves with cohort performance, so the publisher has to track and often report how cohorts perform. Here the line never moves. Salesforce has no operational reason to compute a pass rate, and it has chosen not to publish one.

Why the pass rates you see online disagree

Search "Salesforce Admin pass rate" and the first page of results will hand you several different answers at the same time. One page puts it around 40-50%. Another states roughly 60%. A third quotes something above 70%. These cannot all be correct. They can all be wrong, and at least three of them are.

What none of them do is cite Salesforce, because there is nothing to cite. Trace any of these figures back and you land in one of four places: a training provider's own student results, which describe that provider's customers rather than the candidate population; a self-selected forum or LinkedIn poll, where people who failed are markedly less likely to answer; an extrapolation from a different certification entirely; or no source at all, the number simply inherited from an earlier page that also had no source.

The incentive structure is worth naming plainly. A low pass rate is a sales asset. If a bootcamp tells you only four in ten candidates pass unaided, the course it is selling looks necessary. A page monetized by course affiliate commissions has every reason to publish the scariest defensible figure and no reason to check it. Pages selling nothing sometimes drift the opposite way and quote a cheerful number to keep readers moving. Neither has consulted Salesforce.

There is also a moving-target problem that would undermine even an honest historical figure. The current outline gives Agentforce its own 8% section, and the guide states that exam questions align to the Summer '25 release. A pass rate collected before that content was on the exam would be describing a measurably different test from the one you are about to sit.

What actually separates passing from failing candidates

Since there is no rate to study, study the structure. Salesforce publishes the full weighting, and it tells you more about your odds than any invented percentage:

• Data and Analytics Management — 17% (roughly 10 of 60 questions)
• Configuration and Setup — 15% (roughly 9 questions)
• Object Manager and Lightning App Builder — 15% (roughly 9 questions)
• Automation — 15% (roughly 9 questions)
• Sales and Marketing Applications — 10% (roughly 6 questions)
• Service and Support Applications — 10% (roughly 6 questions)
• Productivity and Collaboration — 10% (roughly 6 questions)
• Agentforce — 8% (roughly 5 questions)

Three things fall out of that table. First, the four heaviest sections — Data and Analytics Management, Configuration and Setup, Object Manager and Lightning App Builder, and Automation — total 62% of the exam, about 37 questions. You need 41. So mastering the big four does not pass you on its own, but no amount of strength in the smaller sections compensates for weakness there. Candidates who fail narrowly have usually treated one of those four as a minor topic.

Second, Agentforce is roughly five questions, which is approximately the same size as the entire margin between passing and failing. It is the newest material on the exam and the section your older study notes are least likely to cover. Five questions is small enough to feel skippable and large enough to decide the result.

Third, the clock is tighter than it looks. If you receive the full 65 items, 105 minutes gives you about one minute and 37 seconds per question; with 60 items it is one minute and 45 seconds. Salesforce questions are frequently scenario-based, so a slow start on long stems is a genuine failure mode. Because no reference materials are permitted, this is a recall exam, not a lookup exam — knowing where a setting lives in Setup is not the same as being able to name it under time pressure.

One more structural point deserves attention. The exam has no prerequisites. A three-year working admin and a self-taught first-timer sit the same 60 questions. That unfiltered candidate pool is the deepest reason a single headline pass rate would tell you almost nothing about your own chances even if Salesforce did publish one — it would blend two populations with completely different preparation.

The bottom line

Salesforce does not publish a pass rate for the Administrator exam, and any page that quotes one is quoting itself. What Salesforce does publish is more useful anyway: a fixed 68% cut score, 41 correct answers out of 60, 105 minutes, a US$200 registration fee, a US$100 retake, and a weighted outline that shows exactly where the questions come from. Your odds are not a population statistic — they are a function of whether you can clear 41 with more than half the paper drawn from four sections. Treat the invented figures as marketing, and treat the exam outline as the syllabus it actually is.
