OSHA 10-Hour Outreach Training (Construction) Exam Guide

The course is built around fixed blocks of instructional time rather than a graded content blueprint. The curriculum breaks down as follows:

• Required topics — 6 hours, including the OSHA Focus Four Hazards (4 hours), Introduction to OSHA (1 hour), Personal Protective Equipment (30 minutes), and Health Hazards in Construction (30 minutes)
• Elective topics — 2 hours, with at least two distinct elective topics presented
• Optional topics — 2 hours, at the trainer's discretion

OSHA does not set or collect a fee for the 10-Hour Outreach card. Each authorized training organization prices its own courses and card processing, so cost varies by provider — check the specific fee schedule of the training organization you choose rather than expecting a standard OSHA rate.

Instead of a question count and time limit, OSHA 10 is structured around instructional hours: a minimum of 10 total hours, split into 6 required, 2 elective, and 2 optional hours. No single topic may run more than 4 hours, and no topic may run less than 30 minutes. Classes must span at least two calendar days, with training capped at 7.5 student contact hours per day and a class size between 3 and 40 students. There is no OSHA-mandated passing score — course completion, not a test result, is what qualifies a student for the card.
