Domain 2: Security and Compliance is 30% of scored content, making it the single most heavily weighted domain. Expect coverage of the AWS shared responsibility model, identity and access management concepts, compliance concepts, and the security resources and support structures AWS provides.

Domain 3: Cloud Technology and Services (34%)

Domain 3: Cloud Technology and Services is 34% of scored content, the largest single domain. This is where core AWS services live conceptually — compute, storage, databases, networking, and how to identify appropriate AWS services for common use cases, along with methods of deploying and operating in the AWS Cloud.

Domain 4: Billing, Pricing, and Support (12%)

Domain 4: Billing, Pricing, and Support is 12% of scored content and covers AWS pricing models, billing and cost-management tools, and the different AWS support plans and resources available to customers.

Most candidates without prior AWS exposure can prepare in four to six weeks of consistent, part-time study; those already using AWS day-to-day may need less. Structure your prep around the domain weightings rather than spreading time evenly.

Weeks 1–2: Foundations and Cloud Concepts

Start with core cloud terminology and the material behind Domain 1: Cloud Concepts — the Well-Architected Framework pillars, cloud economics (fixed vs. variable costs, rightsizing), and migration strategy basics. This foundation makes every later domain easier to absorb.

Weeks 2–3: Core Services

Since Cloud Technology and Services is the largest domain by weighting, spend the bulk of your remaining time here. Get comfortable with the major service categories — compute, storage, databases, and networking — at a conceptual level: what each service does, when you'd choose it, and how it fits into a typical architecture. You don't need to configure these services hands-on, but recognizing them by name and purpose is essential.

Week 3–4: Security and Billing

Dedicate focused time to Security and Compliance given its heavy weighting, covering the shared responsibility model and identity and access management concepts. Pair this with the smaller but still testable Billing, Pricing, and Support domain — pricing models, cost tools, and support plan tiers.

Final Week: Practice and Review

Shift to active recall: work through practice questions under timed conditions, review flashcards for terminology you keep missing, and revisit any domain where you're scoring below your target. Since there's no penalty for guessing, also practice answering every question rather than skipping ones you're unsure about.
