The numbers to remember

• National portion: 80 scored + 5 pretest items, 150 minutes, $100 fee
• State portion: 40 scored + 5-10 pretest items, 90 minutes, $100 fee
• Combined sitting: 240 minutes total, $100 with the two-for-one combo discount
• Passing score: 75% on each portion, scored separately (not averaged)
• Minimum age to apply: 18
• Exam delivered by Pearson VUE; exam authorization is valid 1 year from payment
• Prelicense education: 120 total hours (Principles 45, Law 45 incl. 18 hrs NV law, Contracts 15, Agency 15)
• Salesperson license fee: $140.00 (broker license fee: $160.00)
• Apply within 12 months of passing; passing results are valid for 12 months
• Certified license history required if licensed anywhere in the past 10 years, dated within 90 days of application
• Fingerprints: 2 months to expire on Form 501, 6 months on Form 549

High-yield review areas

• License Practice, Contracts, Agency, and Disclosures cover the bulk of the national portion's scored items — review these last and hardest before test day.
• State-specific rules (Nevada statutes, Commission powers, licensing procedures) do not overlap much with national content — do not assume general real estate knowledge covers them.
• Fingerprint expirations differ by form: 2 months on Form 501, 6 months on Form 549 — time submission to line up with your application, not your test date, so results don't lapse.
• If you pass one portion and fail the other, only the failed portion needs a retake, within 12 months of your passing score, at the same fee as the original exam.
• Build in extra review time for the smaller domains (Special Topics, Licensing Requirements, Record Keeping, Commission Duties) — low weight does not mean zero questions.

Top traps

• Pretest items look identical to scored items — never try to skip or rush a question assuming it does not count toward your score.
• The two portions are scored independently at 75% each — a strong national score does not offset a weak state score, and vice versa.
• Exam registration fees are final and nonrefundable, so confirm your schedule and portion selection before paying.
• Book online at least 24 hours ahead of your desired date, and cancel or reschedule at least 48 hours ahead — same-day changes are not guaranteed.
• Arrive at least 30 minutes early for check-in; late arrival risks forfeiting your slot and your fee.
• Credit card payments add a 2% convenience fee — factor that in, especially if you end up paying for a retake.
