Rhode Island Road Signs & Driver Knowledge Test Exam Guide

The computerized test questions are based on the motor vehicle laws and the rules of the road, and the Rhode Island Driver's Manual opens with a Signs section covering regulatory and guide signs before moving into broader driving rules. Road signs are not tested as a standalone section — sign recognition is folded directly into the same knowledge exam, so strong sign knowledge supports your score across the whole test.

The RI DMV does not publish an official total question count or passing score for the computerized knowledge exam, so applicants should treat it as a straightforward pass/fail check on the Driver's Manual rather than aim for a specific target. Testing is available during normal business hours by reservation only, and applicants who do not pass must wait at least 8 days before retaking the exam.
