- NCLEX-RN
- A legal and ethical requirement that a patient receive complete information about a treatment or procedure, understand it, and freely agree before it occurs. Nurses play a key role in ensuring consent is truly informed and documented.
- NCLEX-PN
- The process by which a patient receives complete information about a procedure or treatment, including risks and alternatives, before agreeing to it. LPNs assist in ensuring patients understand before signing consent forms and can identify when a patient does not have capacity to consent.
- CMA (AAMA)
- The process by which a patient voluntarily agrees to a treatment or procedure after being told its risks, benefits, and alternatives. Medical assistants often help document that consent was obtained.
