- NCLEX-RN
- The insertion of a flexible tube (catheter) into the body to drain, deliver, or monitor body functions—most commonly urinary catheterization. Proper insertion technique and aseptic care prevent infection and complications.
- CCMA (NHA)
- The insertion of a flexible tube into a body cavity or vessel, most commonly referring to urinary catheterization. Medical assistants may assist with or perform catheter insertion and care, maintaining sterile technique throughout the procedure.
